Recruitment of Care Workers From Countries Outside the EU
Task and aim of the project
The study financed by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung on the topic of "Recruitment of Care Workers From Countries Outside the EU" is primarily concerned with recording the current status quo of the recruitment of care workers from third countries in Germany. The focus is on the following points:
- What legal framework conditions exist for the recruitment of care workers in third countries?
- How is the development of care workers from third countries in numbers in Germany?
- What challenges do practitioners face when recruiting care workers from third countries?
- What challenges arise in the integration (both operational and social) of care workers from third countries?
To answer the question outlined above, a literature analysis will be conducted at the beginning, as well as a secondary analysis of labor market data of care workers from third countries in Germany. In addition, workshops will be held at three different times with practitioners and stakeholders who are active in the field of recruiting and hiring care workers from third countries. In addition to the workshops, qualitative interviews with care workers from third countries and a quantitative survey will be conducted. The qualitative and quantitative data collection will be carried out to determine motivations for employment in Germany on the one hand and identify difficulties and support services on the other. The study aims to identify the needs for improvement in the process of recruiting care workers from third countries.
The study is being conducted jointly by the Research Cluster Work and Change and the Research Cluster Health Economy and Quality of Life
